The weekend is here! Which means for must of us in this pandemic world … it’s a lot like the rest of the week. But we can brighten your day (no matter which day it is) with a little bit of fun food tech news.

Dunkin’ Could Shutter Up to 1,150 Stores
Dunkin’ Brands’ CEO outlined this week how the company plans to get through this pandemic. As QSR Magazine writes, part of that plan is to close 800 U.S. and 350 international stores. On its earnings call, Dunkin’ Brands’ said this strategy would help the company focus on quality over quantity.

Coffee Flavored Coca-Cola Coming to the U.S.
If you’ve ever had to debate between a cup of coffee or a can of Coke to get your motor going in the morning — good news! Coca-Cola is bringing its coffee/soda hybrid to the U.S. starting in January 2021 for members of its Insider Club. Food Dive reports that the drinks have double the caffeine and half the calories of a regular can of soda, and will come in Dark Blend, Vanilla and Caramel flavors.

Touch-Free Payments for Drive-In Concerts
POS company Appetize announced this week that it is providing contactless payments for Live Nation’s “Live from the Drive-In” concert series in Philadelphia. The system will allow socially distant attendees to order food from their mobile phones and have it delivered directly to their cars.
